Two of the Greatest People I know

Two of the most amazing, kind and generous people I know happen to be my grandparents. Whenever I think of Nan and Gramp I can't help but get a huge smile on my face :) I remember Nan always reminding me to eat my vegetables, and so lovingly yet strongly encouraging me to eat my peas. I remember many games of Crazy 8s, Solitare and Skip-Bo. I remember Gramp in his work jumpers telling me all about what type of apples they were growing and which fruit trees were blooming. I remember all of the fun summers up at Lake George, swimming, waterskiing, playing wiffle ball and soccer.
But what I remember most is the love and compassion that I felt from Nan and Gramp. They loved their family and everyone else around them. They always sought to help those in need, never judging anyone and seeing in everyone their greatest potential.
I hope I grow up to be like them someday.

We Love Nan

Just like always Nan brought our family together. For the first time in MANY years, the majority of our extended family was back together. Unfortunately the occasion was Nan's passing, but just as she did in life, she brought us together. As we got together, we had the great occasion to celebrate her well lived life.
We love you Nan & miss you!

The Seeds Were Planted

Although the Hurd Family Legacy started well before 1948, our story begins here. March, 1948 Melvin Graham Hurd and Cynthia Annabelle Nickerson started their life together as husband and wife. From Mel and Cynthia or as we know them Nan & Gramp, blossomed a great family of love consisting currently of 2 children, 6 grandchildren and 12 and a half great grandchildren. Although none of us bear the Hurd name we always carry it in our hearts.
We are so grateful for our amazing heritage and we're glad to have something to bring us together to help us keep in touch.
Please feel free to post pictures and what you are all up to. This is a blog made just for our family. Let's stay in touch and carry on the family legacy!!!!
